“I'm curious what your experience with the Thinkpad X1 Carbon has been - I was one of the beta testers for the XPS 13 (as noted in my other comment in this thread). I absolutely love the XPS 13, but the X1 Carbon was the other laptop I would have considered getting.”— chimeracoder · 2012 · HN

“I would highly recommend the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. I'm typing on it right now and the keyboard is a joy. See my first impressions of it here: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4848375”— w1ntermute · 2013 · HN

“I love my Thinkpad X1 Carbon with Arch Linux. I think I have a pretty optimized work environment thanks to the following software: Emacs (Editor, Email, IRC, Org-mode), XMonad (Window manager) and Conkeror (Browser). You can find all my dotfiles online: https://github.com/wunki/w”— wunki · 2013 · HN

“I've been using a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (3rd gen) with ubuntu on dual boot no problem. It's pretty thin like that other brand, and has good battery life in both OS, like 6-9hrs depending on use. Visual studio and netflix? 6hrs. Coding in a text editor: 8-10.”— Justen · 2015 · HN

“I have that x1 carbon. Figured why cheap out on something I use everyday.”— buckbova · 2015 · HN

“I have a Thinkpad X1 carbon gen 2 and have absolutely no problem with it. In fact it's an amazing little laptop that I highly recommend if it's in your price ranges. I believe the latest generation of that laptop have a few minor issues with linux that are easily fixable.”— alex_duf · 2016 · HN
