“Have you tried a trackball? I use a Kensington Slimblade with my multi-monitor setup at work and I find it far superior to a mouse.”
“I got one when I was 28, 2 years later I'm almost good. Breaks(I use MacBreakZ on OSX and Workrave on Windows), Colemak, Kinesis keyboard, trackball and regular stretching helped me a lot.”
“I started getting RSI in the early 2000s and switching to a Kinesis Advantage fixed it all. Occasionally I get sore when I use my laptop without the Kinesis for extended periods of time, but the Kinesis is all I need. I think also using a trackball helps a lot as well.”
“I second this. Since I use a split keyboard with a trackball placed in the middle my hand and right arm problems are all gone.”
“I use an Ergodox EZ Glow and am very happy with it, with a combo of a Kensington trackball and the Mac's trackpad for mouse input. Here's my work-in-progress firmware if you're curious: https://github.com/mnemnion/ergodox/”
“I had similar problems years ago and switched to a trackball. No problems since. I use a Logitech with thumb moving the ball. I keep it and keyboard at waist level with monitor at eye level.”
“I'm using a linear columnar split keyboard now (moonlander from zsa, redox from falbatech before that). That has done much more to reduce strain than anything else I tried. I would also highly recommend getting a trackball, personally I'm a programmer and have to rely on my hands”
